A suicide bomber detonated a bomb near the French embassy in the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott on Saturday, killing the bomber and wounding three others, the police said.

Police said the bomb exploded at about 100 meters from the French embassy.

The identity of the suicide bomber, aged around 25, was not immediately known, police said.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Mauritania has been hit by terror attacks since 2006. This was the first case of suicide attack in the Islamic republic.
