A 45-year-old man died from the virus in Bangkok on Wednesday morning and a 15-year-old girl died in Chonburi province, 80 kilometres (50 miles) southeast of the capital, a public health official told AFP.
The victims were among the 22 confirmed cases who have received medical treatment for the A(H1N1) virus in hospitals around the country.
Health authorities said Wednesday there were 59 new confirmed cases of swine flu, bringing Thailand’s total to 1,473 cases. They were found in 40 of the kingdom’s 76 provinces.
Public Health Minister Witthaya Keawparadai said the government’s pharmaceutical organisation had ordered two million doses of vaccine from the United States and will bring forward delivery to October instead of March.
Worldwide there have been over 70,890 cases of swine flu confirmed, with a death toll of over 300, according to the World Health Organisation.
