Terming the UN report on Israeli war crimes in Gaza as "unbalanced and "one-sided", a top US diplomat has asked the findings to be reviewed by the Human Rights Council.
"We have long expressed our very serious concern with the mandate that was given by the Human Rights Council prior to our joining the Council, which we viewed as unbalanced, one-sided and basically unacceptable," US envoy to the United Nations Susan Rice told reporters.
The fact-finding mission led by former South African judge Richard Goldstone concluded that Israel has committed serious violations of human rights during its military operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip ten months ago.
Expressing concern over many of the recommendations in the report, Rice said it should be reviewed by the Human Rights Council.
"We will accept and believe that the appropriate venue for this report to be considered is the Human Rights Council and that is our strong view," she said.
Rice also said that it was important to be focused on the future and facilitate negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians to end the long-standing crisis.

{{/usCountry}}The four members of the mission were appointed by the President of the Human Rights Council in April with a mandate "to investigate all violations of international human rights and international humanitarian law" committed during the Gaza conflict.
