US man in Suu Kyi case gets seven years' hard labour

The US co-defendant in the case of Aung San Suu Kyi was sentenced to a total of seven years' imprisonment and hard labour by a court in Myanmar on Tuesday, an AFP correspondent in court said.

John Yettaw, 54, who sparked Suu Kyi's trial by swimming to her lakeside house in May, got three years for breaching security laws, three years for immigration violations and one year for a municipal charge of illegal swimming.
