Actor Suniel Shetty has no doubts about the fact that his 19-year old daughter, Athiya Shetty, will make her Bollywood debut in the remake of 1983 hit film, Hero, opposite actor Aditya Pancholi’s son, Sooraj Pancholi.
Sooraj has been surrounded with controversies of late, after being charged with abetment to suicide in actor Jiah Khan’s (his ex-girlfriend) suicide case.
When asked about the same, Suniel says, "I have no apprehensions that Athiya will be debuting opposite Sooraj. I believe that till the time
is proved guilty, he is innocent and we all should not jump the gun. No one has the right to point a finger at him until the final judgement is made. And if he was proved guilty, he’d have been hung by now."
The Hera Pheri actor further says, "Moreover, if that was the case, the film would not have been made, and the producers would not be investing their money."
When asked why, unlike other star dads, he himself didn’t
, he says, "I think she is being launched in the best possible way. With Salman Khan as the producer and Nikhil Advani as the director, I couldn’t have asked for a better and bigger launch pad for my daughter. I know she is in safe hands. Salman is like family, and he launching Athiya is just like me launching her!"
But like a doting father, Suniel does have fears about her daughter entering the industry, "I know she is trained in the best way for the industry and is ready to make her mark, but I do fear about how she’d handle failures, compared to success, which is far easy to handle. I just want the best for her and I know she has worked very hard for her debut."
