The preview copy of filmmaker Ketan Mehta's Manjhi - The Mountain Man was leaked online Monday on peer-to-peer file sharing platform. The Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer is set to hit theatres on August 21.
Manjhi is the fourth film that leaked online before the release this year. A pirated copy of Kamal Haasan's Papanasam was leaked online soon after its release and the censor copy of Malayalam blockbuster Premam was leaked in June. Reports even claim that Salman Khan-Nawazuddin Sidduiq-starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan, too leaked online before the movie hit theatres on July 17 and began its box office storm.
Netizens were surprised to find the watermarked preview copy of the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer on several torrent sites. Directed by Ketan Mehta The film, a biopic, is based on Dasharath Manjhi, a resident of Gehlaur village in Atri block of Gaya district in Bihar.
Dasharath Manjhi had, single-handedly, cut through a hill to make a road for his village. Working day and night, Manjhi had carved out a passage with a hammer and a chisel. Manjhi had taken up the uphill task after his wife was injured and he had to take a long detour around the hills to reach the nearest hospital.
Manjhi, who died in 2007 in his early 80s, also wanted to develop his native village so that it had all the basic facilities -- but that was a dream which remained unfulfilled in his lifetime, and later.
Manjhi The Mountain Man also features Radhika Apte, Tighmanshu Dhulia and Pankaj Tripathi in important roles.
