The makers of Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster, Rahul Mittra and Tigmanshu Dhulia, are irked by news that TV actor Karanveer Bohra has claimed to be the co-producer of their film, and are preparing to move court. “I have produced Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster along with my partner Tigmanshu, who has also directed the film. There is no third party involved,” says Mittra.
Karanveer was recently reported to have said that he co-produced the film. He also claimed to have distributed CDs of the film in colleges before the release. “It’s absolutely false,” says Mittra adding, “As he’s projecting himself as co-producer, we’re going to take legal action.”
Karanveer’s cousin, producer Sunil Bohra, was the print and advertising partner for the film, admits Mittra: “Sunil Bohra’s company, Bohra Brothers were our print and advertising partners. Their name appeared as co-presenter. But he is not the co-producer, since he didn’t invest anything into making it.”
Sharing the same sentiment, Dhulia says, “He is just a small-time actor. Being Sunil’s cousin, he hung around the office, but wasn’t part of the filmmaking.
On his part, Karanveer says, “I’d like to clarify that I was never a producer of Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster. My brother Sunil, who heads Bohra Bros Productions, was involved in this project. I only got involved when Sunil launched his music company that released the music for this movie.”
Karanveer reiterates that his involvement was based on family ties, saying, “I helped with ground promotion of the film’s music only because of my relationship with Sunil.”
