The busiest actor/artist/filmmaker/author in showbiz, James Franco has completed his first novel, titled Actors Anonymous, and sold the manuscript exclusively to Amazon's e-book publishing imprint.
The book is a fictionalized version of Franco's career as an actor, according to the New York Observer, which has fans hoping for behind-the-scenes tales of actors and directors in his films, which include 127 Hours, Pineapple Express, Milk and television soap General Hospital.
Franco has been studying writing and filmmaking in New York University's post-graduate programs. His previous literary venture was a collection of short stories, Palo Alto, published in 2010.
The star of Rise of the Planet of the Apes will next be seen in Sam Raimi's Oz the Great and Powerful with Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz, due in theaters March 7-9 in the UK, US and Germany.
And among films scheduled for 2012, Franco has shot the thriller The Stare with Winona Ryder and Cherry with Heather Graham and Dev Patel, and he will do a cameo as Hugh Hefner in Lovelace with Amanda Seyfried playing the porn star Linda Lovelace. He is also set to appear in Apocalypse, a comedy directed by and costarring Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill.
