From Ranveer Singh to Ranbir Kapoor: 8 actors who wowed us with body transformation

If Ranbir Kapoor can, Ranveer Singh, too, will. Just when we thought Bollywood is over the ‘body transformation’ craze, we had both Ranbir and Ranveer reveal their ripped physiques, and wow us all.
Whatever the fate of their forthcoming films, the fact is that both actors have once again renewed interest in a phase Bollywood was crazy about, say, for the last 10 years now.
Like them, a number of industry A-listers have gone to great lengths to transform their physique to fit into their film roles. They hire special trainers for six months to a year before shooting for the movie and stick to a disciplined diet and exercise regimen, and the results are to marvel at.
Here are some actors who have gone through some radical transformations:
1. Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh’s transformation, in just under 6 weeks, is stuff every gym-goer dreams of. Llyod Stevens, the actor’s Zimbabwean personal trainer, posted his picture on Instagram on Wednesday, and, as expected, it’s the talk of the virtual world . Lloyd revealed how hard the two worked to attain their goals. “6 WEEK #transformation with my boy @ranveersingh ... Haven’t posted this in a long while but every time I look at it makes me very proud and remember that @ranveersingh and I worked extremely hard to achieve this result despite his extremely busy schedule that sometimes involved us working out at very late hours of the night or very early hours of the morning ... never the less we got it done,” he wrote as the caption.
In the picture on the left, presumably from six weeks ago, Ranveer does look lean but the one on the right shows his eight-pack abs, rippling muscles and an overall toned body.
It is not clear whether Ranveer went though this rigorous fitness regime for Padmavati or another film. In the former, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and co-starring Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer plays Alauddin Khilji, the 14th century ruler of the Delhi Sultanate.
2. Hrithik Roshan
Hrithik stopped exercising and put on a lot of weight for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish where he played a paraplegic character. After that, he transformed his body to get the look of a superhero for his next movie, Krrish, in merely 10 weeks. Celebrity trainer Kris Gethin helped him in this amazing transformation.
3. Aamir Khan
When the posters for Ghajini were released, we saw that Aamir had literally transformed himself into a monster with eight-pack abs. A training regimen that lasted 13 months saw Aamir drinking four litres of milk daily along with 16 egg whites and other items to maintain his strenuous exercise regimen. He put on a massive amount of weight for Dangal and then got into Olympic-level shape for a sequence that lasts just a few minutes in the movie.
4. Sidharth Malhotra
Sidharth is known for his slim physique but it was for Brothers, where he played an MMA fighter, that he worked out like a beast and underwent training to get the right look for the film.
5. John Abraham
John has always been an inspiration for gym-goers but he really got people’s eyes popping when he underwent an intense training regimen for his film Force. This came after the film Jhootha Hi Sahi, where he was playing a nerdy character.
6. Farhan Akhtar
With Hrithik as one of his close buddies, it was obvious that Farhan, too, would get into the fitness game and through his years in Bollywood, he built up a decent physique. And then came Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The shot in the trailer where Farhan as Milkha Singh is shirtless and training made everyone sit back and gape.
7. Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka grit her teeth and trained daily to get into fighting shape to play Mary Kom in the biopic Mary Kom, based on the Indian world champion boxer’s life.
Prabhas was someone who was never really known for his physique, but then Baahubali happened and everything changed. The actor buffed up and had a solid diet plan that he stuck to, to get the physique he flaunts in the film.
9. Ranbir Kapoor
Most recently, Ranbir underwent a physical transformation to play Sanjay Dutt in the upcoming biopic by Rajkumar Hirani. Ranbir’s fitness trainer Kunal Gir shared a picture on Instagram from New York where the crew is shooting the last leg of the movie. The shooting of the film began in January. As part of his preparation for the role, Ranbir has gained more than 13kg to tone up his muscles to match Dutt’s physique. He is also bulking up for another upcoming film, Dragon.
