Notorious gangster Ranjodh Singh ‘Jodha’ Kothaguru and another person were killed while three others were injured in a road mishap in Sikar district in Rajasthan on early Tuesday morning.

The accident took place at about 4 am when five were travelling in Maruti Suzuki Swift D’zire car bearing registration number RJ 31 CA 6427 to Baran district in Rajasthan to attend a court hearing. Rajasthan police said an unknown vehicle hit the car resulting in death of Jodha Kothaguru and Gurjit Singh. The injured were identified as Karamjit Singh, Jagseer Singh and Kulwinder Singh and were referred to a Jaipur hospital.

Ranjodh Singh, a resident of Kothaguru village in Bathinda, was facing at least 10 cases against him including a murder, attempt to murder, theft and dacoity. He was out on bail. He was also an accused in a firing incident at erstwhile People’s Party of Punjab rally at Adampur village in Bathinda during panchayat polls in May 2013. The firing resulted in the death of one person.

While locked in Nabha jail, he had also hailed the murder of gangster-turned politician Jaswinder Singh ‘Rocky’ who was shot dead in Solan district in Himachal Pradesh April this year by writing on his Facebook.
