Hazur Sahib principal preacher killed in Punjab road mishap

Giani Amarjit Singh, ‘hazuri kathavachak’ (principal preacher) at Takht Hazur Sahib in Nanded, Maharashtra, which is one of the five temporal seats of Sikh faith, was killed in a road accident in Punjab on Thursday.

The incident happened near Nirankari Bhawan at Zira when his car collided with a Canter. He was moved to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Giani Amarjit Singh had preached at Manji Sahib, Dewan Hall, at Darbar Sahib in Amritsar and met with his journey back to Maharashtra.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) office-bearers — president Avtar Singh Makkar, chief secretary Harcharan Singh, secretaries Roop Singh, Manjit Singh, and Avtar Singh, and additional secretary Diljit Singh Bedi have expressed grief over the death of Giani Amarjit Singh. HTC
