A day after an 18-month-old girl was found abandoned at a park in Sector 22-A, no one has come forward to claim her.

Police said, “Two women heard the girl’s cries coming from the park. The girl was alone, with a polythene bag having clothes, chips and milk placed near her. The women looked for her parents but there was no one.”

The girl was rushed to Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16. The police informed the child helpline officials who also reached the hospital.

The child, though healthy, was admitted and kept under observation all night. The police also deputed two women home guards to take care of the child.

The girl was discharged on Friday afternoon, after which the police handed her over to Nari Niketan in Sector 26.

A case under Section 317 (exposure and abandonment of child under 12 years, by parent or person having care of it) of the IPC has been registered.
