Patiala had its share of success in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) entrance examination that was declared on Tuesday, as city boy Sanil Garg cracked the test by securing 23th rank and will easily secure admission in the premier medical institute in Delhi.
Elated over his performance, 17-year-old Sanil told HT that it was a dream come true to get into country’s top medical institution. “I studied hard under the guidance of my teachers and remained focused in my preparation,” he said.
He added that his parents were his real support. “Since both of them are doctors, it helped me a lot in academics and otherwise too,” he added. Sanil’s mother Dr Shifali Garg is a dermatologist in Patiala Government Medical College, while father Dr Sandeep Garg runs a private radiology lab. Sanil said, “I want to specialise in neurosurgery.”
Meanwhile, another Patiala boy Gurasis Singh Boparai, too, cleared the AIIMS exams by securing the 28th all India rank. Another city-based student Sifatjot Singh secured 67th rank.
