After Vikram (Raavan), Rana Daggubati (Dum Maro Dum), Dhanush (Raanjhaana) and Ram Charan Teja (Zanjeer remake), the latest star from the south to hop on the B-Town bandwagon is Vijay of Pokkiri (2007) and Kaavalan (2011) fame. The 37-year-old actor will make a special appearance with Akshay Kumar in Rowdy Rathore’s song, Chinta ta ta.
This Bollywood project is a first for Vijay, one of the most successful actors in the Tamil film industry. He flew to Mumbai for a couple of days to shoot the song at Film City. And he refused to charge a penny for his appearance. “I have been an Akshay Kumar fan ever since his Khiladi days,” says Vijay. “Rowdy Rathore’s promos look very interesting and Akshay Kumar’s comeback in his action avtaar will be a delight to watch. So when Prabhudheva (the film’s director) asked me to appear, I agreed immediately. These people have been very friendly. I can never forget it.” Vijay’s films Kushi (2000) and Pokkiri have been successfully remade in Hindi as Khushi (2003) and Wanted (2008).
Prabhudheva feels that multiple stars in a song boost the entertainment quotient automatically.
“Akshay and Vijay had great fun shooting with each other. People love to see several stars at one go. For example, in the song Mera hi jalwa from Wanted, though Salman bhai and I were already part of it, we still used Anil Kapoor and Govinda. And we used Vijay very smartly in this song,” says the actor-choreographer-director.
Bebo to do Chinta ta ta?
Is Kareena Kapoor also a part of Chinta ta ta? Well, that’s what the buzz in the industry suggests. That, apparently, Bebo will be part of the hit song that is already rocking the music channels.
It’s believed that Kareena was bowled over by the song when she heard it for the first time. But whether a new music video will be shot with her or her portions will be merged with the already shot song is still unclear.
Chances are though, that the filmmakers will come up with another version of the song, this time featuring Akshay and Sonkashi along with Vijay, Kareena and Prabhudheva.
