A man battles with a gamut of emotions in a drama based on an American award-winning act of 1940.

What happens when a 62-year-old sweats out as a door-to-door salesman for 36 years across the country and due to advent of technology, gets told that he is not good enough to keep his job? Add to that an exposé of an extra-marital affair and a financial crisis due to an unpayable loan. This is just a sneak peek into the tragic drama, Ek Salesman Ki Maut. The two-hour long play will be showcased for the first-time ever, and is a Hindi adaptation of the 1949 American classic — Death of a Salesman — which has stood the test of time.



"With a complex story and flashback scenes thrown in good measure, it was a challenge to showcase this play on stage. But an engaged audience will come to understand the jugglery of the story we are presenting," says Rajesh Babbar, veteran theatre actor and director of the play.

Actor Sharan Makkar, who plays protagonist Ramdas, adds: "It is a tough role to enact. Ramdas has multiple shades. He is aggressive, comical, sensitive, childish and depressed. It is enjoyable portraying this complex role." And, what’s his on-screen wife like? Actor Laxmi Rawat, who essays the character — also named Laxmi — says, "She’s just the opposite. While Ramdas is moody and unpredictable, Laxmi is both calm and at peace. She is a woman who has a grip on her life when her spouse actually harbours unrealistic hopes."
