‘Graffiti is part of me’

Says South African graffiti artist Falko who performed a live painting session in the city recently

He has been involved in street art from the past 24 years and says graffiti has become a part of him. South African graffiti artist Falko was in Delhi to judge and perform live at Indian Institute of Technology’s annual cultural fest - Rendezvous that was held in the Capital on October 21.

On his maiden trip to India, he is quite excited to explore the city. “I am glad I came. I always wanted to come here, even as a teenager. I haven’t got much time to go around the city and check out street art, but I would love to do it for sure,” says Falko.

He is excited to meet young graffiti artists of the city. "I am actually very curious to meet the artists here. I am eager to understand their art," says Falko, who also represents Adidas. He got into the art in 1988 and since then he says graffiti has been his first love. "I never wanted to do what everybody else is doing. Back then, graffiti was not even known," he says.

The artist also paints in oil, water and other mediums. “I do what I love to do”, he signs off.
