Nasya’s Sufi and Punjabi music to take centre stage this Friday Jam

Delhi-NCR gear up for a high-octane fourth week of Hindustan Times Friday Jam season 5, that will see fusion rock band Nasya bring the house down, with Sufi and folk numbers.

Pulsating, energetic, and rocking — that is how the people of Delhi-NCR described the last three weeks of the city’s biggest music festival — Hindustan Times DLF Cyber Hub Friday Jam Season 5, powered by Too Yumm and Nearbuy.com. With power-packed performances by music stars, such as the singer Guru Randhawa, and bands Indian Ocean and Euphoria, in the past three weeks, the upcoming weeks promise to be all this and more.

Tonight, expect a fusion of traditional Hindustani vocals with jazz, blues, and rock music by the famed band Nasya, that has won hearts in the country and abroad.

“We have performed for Hindustan Times before. It’s always nice to be a part of HT Friday Jam. It’s exciting for all of us since the audience is so nice.The show is going to be a crazy one, and performing with HT, at a venue like Cyber Hub, is the best combination,” says the band’s frontman, Kunal Wason.

Ready with a line-up consisting of Bollywood, folk, and Punjabi music, Kunal adds, “Since the audience is diverse, we’ll keep the set list accordingly. For the corporate crowd, we’ll play some stress-busting Sufi songs. For the youth, it’ll be Bollywood and rock songs, and entertaining numbers such as Sayonee.”

For Delhi boy Kunal, the band was born out of passion for music. He lauds the corporates in the Millennium City who are finding time for their passions besides their corporate jobs. “It’s so cool to have an office band, like so many people in Gurugram have. I remember, when I was in college I always wanted to have a band (smiles). My family wasn’t that supportive then, it wasn’t an acceptable profession for them,” he says, recalling that his own band started “with college friends”, and then, eventually, he “met professionals”.
