Adapted from a celebrated Bengali play by renowned playwright Manoj Mitra, the play is classical in its form and aims to touch upon socio-cultural issues relevant in India.
“The play tracks the life of Alka Banerjee, a school teacher and the sole provider of her family, and the dilemmas that she goes through over time.
The message that we want to deliver is to not give up in the face of pressure and challenges. Though the play was originally written in 1989, it still holds a lot of relevance in contemporary times," says Bose.
Unlike modern plays, this one is a throwback to the classical style of theatre. "The trend of slapstick and titillating plays is big right now. But with this play, we aim to introduce classical theatre and explore humanity," says actor Sharmila Mitra, who plays the lead character, Alka, in the play. Catch it here!
