TRIVENI KALA SANGAMThe classes at Triveni are held thrice a week for non-working people and once a week for working professionals. The course is not a crash course and takes some time to complete, as it gives emphasis on each and every stage till the time the students achieve perfection. The course starts with basic teaching of clay modelling. Students have the freedom to carve any material of their choice that ranges from cement to plaster of paris and fiber glass. They also teach wood and stone carvings. “We have all sorts of people coming in for the classes. But lately, a lot of youngsters are coming, as they find this medium very fascinating,” says Saroj Jain, the instructor at the institute. HIMANSHU ART INSTITUTEThis place offers both hobby classes and professional training in sculpture-making. “Our professional course provides the students with a certificate diploma in sculpture-making,” says Mohit Minocha of the institute. While the hobby class would teach you the basics like clay modelling, the diploma course for one year starts with basic sketching, colour theory and portrait-making. The next level involves modelling in terracotta, wax acrylic and POP. The classes can either be taken during five days a week or during the weekend for three hours. MATURAM ART CENTREThis institute in Gurgaon is run by artist Naresh Kumawad, who has designed the famous Lord Shiva sculpture on Mahipalpur Road. Out of the many things that are taught here is the art of making realistic sculptures, in which they teach to work on human faces and expressions. So, come to this place to learn how to make a sculpture of any famous personality. SPANDAN ART CLASSESJoin this institute to learn the art of face, form and figure sculpting. “We teach a range of forms initially and then expect the students to pick their own style,” says Navakash, the instructor at the institute. The classes are taken three days a week – Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for three hours. ELA’S STUDIOThe speciality of the class held at this institute is that you get personalised training in sculpture-making here. Sculptor Ela Mukherjee, who takes the classes here, says, “I only take one or two students per class so that I can give them maximum attention.” She imparts the knowledge of wood carvings, stone carvings, metal sculptures, ceramic and fiber glass sculptures to the students. But her speciality lies in ceramic sculptures. “Ceramic is very different and a lot of people want to learn it,” adds Mukherjee.
