With launch of e-gatimaan scheme, traders now would get a unique number on their cell phones which could be forwarded to the driver of the truck, who in turn could show it to the officials of commercial tax department at pickets and save time on paper work formalities and give relief to highway passengers from jams on toll points.

Madhya Pradesh, known as consumer state amongst traders, calls for several consumer products and raw material from other states. Moreover, large numbers of trucks pass through MP considering its central location.

To keep eye on overall movement of goods, the state government has established 28 inspection pickets across the boundary of Madhya Pradesh. Traders, while calling or sending anything from outside the state, have to fill Form 49 to declare details of the goods, so that there is no tax evasion.

Now, traders could obtain 'way-bill' in electronic format by sending details through SMS to commercial tax department.
