The Government rail police (GRP) have initiated the proceedings to take action against travelling ticket examiner (TTE), who was on duty in the coach of Malwa Express, from where a 29-year-old woman was thrown out by a gang in November last year.
Director general (DG) of GRP, MS Gupta, said, "We are looking into how the TTE allowed the accused to enter a reserved coach without checking their tickets or railway passes and how the accused got seated on reserved seats." Gupta added that evidences were being collected to take action against the TTE concerned.
The DG said the accused have confessed to committing over 30 crimes in trains and GRP had seized stolen goods of 22 cases from them. "The role of TTEs of all the trains, where these accused have committed crimes, would be checked and action would be taken against them," he told HT.
The incident had occurred at Karonda railway station near Bina town on November 19. The woman, a resident of Kanpur town of Uttar Pradesh was found unconscious on railway. She was travelling in a sleeper class coach from Delhi to Ujjain.
"It looks unusual that six persons were present in the coach without tickets. We are collecting the evidence to ascertain the role of the TTE. He may be booked soon if found guilty," said a GRP officer on the condition of anonymity. The GRP have arrested nine persons including two railway employees and two former railway employees in connection with the case.
