Bhopal: One killed, 16 injured in road mishap

A man was killed and 16 others were injured when a mini bus, in which they were travelling, overturned at Lambakheda under Nishatpura police station limit in Bhopal on Sunday, police said.

A man was killed and 16 others were injured when a mini bus, in which they were travelling, overturned at Lambakheda under Nishatpura police station limit in Bhopal on Sunday, police said.

According to the police, the 25-seater mini bus was heading towards Berasia from Bhopal. The incident occurred when the driver lost control over the vehicle after one of its tyres burst.

Town inspector of Nishatpura police station Rajeev Jangale said there were around 30 passengers on board. Jangale said after getting information, they reached the spot and rescued the passengers by breaking the vehicle's glasses.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Arshad Khan was declared brought dead. Khan was a resident of Shamshabad in Vidisha district.

He said two critically injured passengers were identified as Suresh Kumar (38), a resident of Lambakheda and Syed Husain (70), a resident of Housing Board Colony in Karond area.

Jangale said a case has been registered and investigation is on to find out the reason behind the mishap. He said the driver and conductor also suffered injuries and are undergoing treatment at the hospital. Their condition is said to be stable.
