The court on Wednesday acquitted seven persons who were accused in the case of property dealer JP Singh's suicide. Singh, 33, had allegedly shot his five-year-old son, Yash, and himself at his farmhouse at Hataikheda, nearly five years ago. A suicide note was found from the spot, in which Singh had named liquor baron and more than half-a-dozen persons for harassing him.

He blamed them for prompting him to end his life. In the handwritten note, he had alleged that he was being pressurised to sell the farmhouse and was under intense stress, which prompted him to end his life.

The district and sessions court on Wednesday acquitted Navin Patel, Neeraj Singh Pawar, Shaukat Ali, Mohammad Kamran, Shailendra Kadam, Kumar Dhirendra and Chhuttan Prasad. However, one of the accused in the case, Vinay Kedia, a liquor baron, is still absconding. The state police are looking out for him.
