According to a report, Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan purchased a five acre piece of land at the village Sevania Gaud in wife Jaya Bachchan's name, from two farmers Ramcharan Patel and Banwari Lal Patel. Bhopal happens to be Jaya's home town. The registry of the land was done in July, 2010.

It is reported that sometime back an application was moved to the T&CP for some construction on the land whereby the government body refused the permission on the grounds that the land fell under green belts.

In the wake of this disclosure notices were served to the farmers as to why they kept the Bachchans in the dark over the actual status of the land. The value of the land is said to be about Rs. 2.5 crore.

Though the T&CP authorities could not be contacted for their comments Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Rajneesh Shrivastava said construction on the land was not possible. Even if the application had been moved to the BMC the latter would not have granted permission.
