Speaking in context of the special investigation team (SIT) report submitted in Jabalpur High Court on Saturday, Chauhan said, “The party will also meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other senior leaders with a demand to take action against Singh for forgery. Being a senior Congress leader, his action is not acceptable.”

The SIT in its report on the PEB scam, submitted to the High court on April 22, mentioned that “whistleblower Mr X alias Prashant Pandey was misleading the investigation into Professional Examination Board (PEB) scam as the pen drive provided by the whistleblower purportedly containing the original excel sheets was forged”.

The SIT is led by retired judge of MP High Court Chandresh Bhushan.

Chauhan said, “It is not the matter of tarnishing the image of Shivraj Singh Chouhan only. They are trying to tarnish the image of the party. Now, we will not keep mum and will expose Singh. After discussing the matter with legal experts, we will take the next step. We are happy that chief minister got clean chit in the MPPEB scam,” he added.

Controversy erupted during the press conference after Nanadkumar Singh Chauhan said that ‘hum Digvijaya Singh ko Digamber kar denge’ (we would turn Digvijaya into Digamber).

When journalists asked whether the BJP chief meant to insult the Jain religion as Digamber is a Jain sect where monks give up clothing, Chauhan clarified that he didn’t mean to hurt anyone and was just meaning to say that BJP will expose Singh.
