Cyclone set to dump heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh

The remnants of Cyclone Hudhud are likely to trigger thunderstorms in many parts of eastern MP. However, there was no storm warning as Hudhud would lose much of its intensity after hitting the eastern coast.

The remnants of Cyclone Hudhud are likely to trigger thunderstorms in many parts of eastern Madhya Pradesh in the next 24 hours. However, there was no storm warning as Hudhud would lose much of its intensity after hitting the eastern coast on Sunday morning.

The cyclone made landfall in the port city of Visakhapatman, leaving six people dead in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha besides causing massive destruction of power and communication infrastructure.

"Eastern part of the state is expected to witness heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours," said an official at the regional meteorological department. Indore, Jabalpur and Bhopal are also likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.
