Police have now registered a case against Anupam Kumar, who allegedly threatened her. Ankita, 21, was student of a private engineering college here and lived in a hostel in Indrapuri.

On September 12, she hanged herself by the ceiling. During the course of investigation, police found that she was upset because Anupam, who had studied with her in the past in Bihar, harassed her on phone. “He pestered and also threatened her that she shouldn’t think of marrying someone else,” said a police official. Initially the police had not found any suicide note but later during the course of investigation they found her jottings in a notebook about her being upset over the youth’s calls.

Police said that Anupam had earlier studied with her in Darbhanga. “He had even threatened to harm her brother,” said the officer. The Piplani police have registered a case of abetment of suicide against him.
