Arjun Singh's daughter said on Saturday her father would reveal at an opportune moment the truth about Union Carbide chief Warren Anderson's escape from law after the Bhopal gas disaster in 1984.

Veena Singh contested the 2009 Lok Sabha elections unsuccessfully from her father's citadel, Sidhi Lok Sabha constituency, as an independent candidate after being denied a ticket by the Congress.

"He is a seasoned politician. Let him decide the time and occasion when he speaks on the issue. Nobody, not even I, can compel him to do so," she told HT over the phone from Singarauli in Sidhi district, 700 km from Bhopal.

She said she had no clue about the political decisions during that time. She had never talked to her father on the issue during all these years.

Asked about then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's perceived role in Anderson's release and whether her father could have taken the decision on his own, she said, "He is my biological father, not political godfather. I am in politics but I have a relation with him as his daughter on a different level."
