The recently held Global Investors’ Summit (GIS) was just an image-making exercise for chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, alleged Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Arun Yadav on Thursday.
Yadav alleged that public money to the extent of Rs 300 crore was spent within three days of the summit, and it has yielded nothing in terms of investment in the state. "Why no memorandums of understanding were signed with the businessmen who came to Indore during the summit," he asked.
The PCC chief said the state government should make the amount of investment that came after all the summits held by the state government in Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s tenure as chief minister.
"The government must clarify what materialised on the ground, in terms of amount of investment and employment generation," he added.
Yadav further said that after all the summits, the government has talked about huge investment coming to MP, but there is hardly anything visible on the ground. "The government claims that there will be single window clearance but it doesn’t happen," he added.
Yadav also alleged that it appears if a tycoon promises an investment amount in earlier summits, the figure is again and again flaunted in next summits even though the investment may not materialise at all.
Mahila Cong’s new executive members
The new state executive of the Madhya Pradesh Mahila Congress has been constituted. The state chief of the Mahila Congress, Mandvi Chauhan, on Thursday, announced the names at a press conference. Raeesa Malik has been appointed as the new Bhopal City women’s Congress chief, while Jaishree Harikran would head the rural Bhopal women’s Congress. Apart from the district and city women Congress chiefs, 25 vice-presidents, 48 general secretaries and 66 secretaries have been appointed. Tanima Datta has been named the spokesperson of the Mahila Congress.

Memo to DGP over minor’s gang rape
The Congress leaders on Thursday handed over a memorandum to the director general of police (DGP), demanding stern action in the case of abduction and gang rape with a minor girl.
The incident had occurred in Sagar on October 3. The 12-year-old Dalit girl’s condition is still critical. The Congress leaders accused the local police in Sagar district of not acting tough on those involved in the heinous crime. They urged the DGP to direct the local police to ensure stern action against the criminals.
