Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's six day visit to the United States of America began with meetings with Indian consul-general Dnyaneshwar M Mulay, non-resident Indians belonging to the state and potential US investors.
Addressing a gathering of nearly 150 guests, the chief minister praised the contributions of US-based investors, particularly NRIs belonging to Madhya Pradesh.
Describing their contributions important, he said investment, expertise and friendship were the key components of development. The chief minister said Madhya Pradesh had been keeping the spirit of the Make in India campaign alive for the past one decade.
According to an official release, he said the state had taken a lead role in implementing another scheme: the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. Chouhan said people-oriented programmes were already underway in the state and good governance was a key to faster development.
The CM also listed the government's achievements in key areas. Elaborating the government's strategic measures for attracting investments, Chouhan said he held meetings with potential investors every Monday to facilitate their businesses.
Referring to the single-window system in the state for easy business, he said Madhya Pradesh had put in place an effective system, making it easier for prospective investors. Mulay said that about 3,000 had already signed up for the Friends of Madhya Pradesh Conclave.
