Man sacrificed in Mandla temple near Jabalpur

A man was found sacrificed in an ancient temple of a female deity in Pipaldehi of tribal-dominated Mandla district. Blood drops were found inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, confirming human sacrifice, said police.

A man was found sacrificed in an ancient temple of a female deity in Pipaldehi of tribal-dominated Mandla district, about 25 km from Jabalpur. The head of the man had been severed and the blood drops were found inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, confirming human sacrifice, police said.

The man has been identified as Indramani Jhariya, 32, a resident of village Sarai under Bargi police station of Jabalpur. The temple is situated inside forest area and the body was found on Saturday afternoon with no one around it. There are also other evidences that confirm that the victim was killed as a human sacrifice, additional superintendent of police of Jabalpur rural, Mahesh Jain told HT.

The Bijadandi police, under whose jurisdiction the temple falls, have registered a case of murder against unidentified persons. Jain said that further investigations were on and efforts were being made to nab the culprits.
