People are upset because no necessary arrangements were made by government officials and district administration in advance to check flooding. On Sunday morning when Chouhan reached the colony, women forced him to sit and hear their grievances.

“We are facing a lot of problem, and the district administration is not paying any attention... This is not the time when we welcome anybody. We made the CM aware of our problems so that we can get rid of water-logging,” local resident Rakhi Shukla said.

Later, the chief minister cancelled his plan to visit some other areas in the district and left for Panna. Angry residents along with Congress corporator Dhanendra Singh blocked the Jabalpur-Allahabad highway. “The district administration is not listening to the problems of people. Many low-lying areas in the city are submerged in water. The affected people have not slept for two days. This miserable situation is due to carelessness of local administration,” Singh said.

In Bansghat, mayor Mamta Gupta was booed away by angry residents. Gupta had gone to inspect the area where the residents shouted slogans against her. Sensing the anger, the mayor left the place immediately.
