Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has asked the BJP workers to make maximum possible use of social media for campaigning in the upcoming urban body elections in Madhya Pradesh.

The chief minister, while attending the election management committee meeting at state BJP headquarters on Thursday, said he will kick off campaigning for the elections after November 16 after visiting Pitambara peeth in Datia and starting a cleanliness drive.

The BJP will also carry out the recruitment drive along with the campaign. The party expects to gain from this decision as it would campaign and expand its base at the same time.

State BJP president Nandkumar Singh Chauhan said half the battle is won in an election with the selection of a good candidate. The BJP has ensured selection of good candidates by making sure that recommendations for the candidates came from the ground level. BJP state organisational general secretary Arvind Menon said three-member committees have been constituted at the level of municipal corporation, municipality and nagar panchayat to keep an eye on the proceedings. Besides, the organisation has also been asked to keep a close watch on the elections.

The state BJP has also convened a meeting of the campaign committee for the upcoming urban body elections on November 16.
