A joint team of forest and police department on Thursday searched the house of former Ranji player Mahmood Khan and his son Ramiz Khan, also a Ranji player, in the Shanichri area of MP’s Sagar district in the blackbuck poaching case.

On January 10, Mahmood Khan, also a MP Cricket Association (MPCA) office bearer, his son and two others were caught by the police with body parts of a blackbuck which they had allegedly killed near Bebas river.

All four accused were booked under sections of Wildlife Protection Act and produced in court on Thursday from where they were sent to jail after rejection of their bail application.

In the two hour search operation, the joint team could not find anything objectionable, said DFO (south) SP Tiwari.

“We have written to the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, where we have informed them about Mahmood Khan and Ramiz’s involvement in the blackbuck poaching case,” The DFO said.

He also told reporters that the department had received a letter from the auditor general of MP, which says that they have received information about Ramiz Khan’s involvement in the case as he is posted as assistant account officer in the organisation.

A letter will also be sent to the Sagar district collector with request to suspend the arms licence of accused and their family members.
