MP high court on Wednesday allowed the APDMC to hold the DMAT (Dental and Medical Admission Test), 2015 online with few modifications in conditions it (the court) laid down for transparency in conducting online test. The test would be conducted through a private agency.

The Association of Private Dental and Medical Colleges (APDMC) will be conducting the dental and medical admission test (DMAT) online for first time for which it has selected a private agency.

Admission to the BDS and MBBS courses run in private medical and dental colleges in the state is done through DMAT.

The DMAT – 2015 was scheduled for July 12, 2015 but was postponed following the court order of July 9, 2015 directing the APDMC to scan the OMR answer-sheet of each candidate in nine examination centres in Madhya Pradesh following complaints of alleged irregularities in past.

Thereupon on July 24, 2015 the association filed an application requesting the court to permit it to conduct DMAT 2015 online.

The APDMC finalized the private agency to conduct the entrance test and submitted the name of the agency in a sealed envelope before the court.

“The court permitted the APDMC to take the bio-metric information (fingerprint/face recognition) of candidates at the examination centre as the candidates had already submitted the application forms”, senior advocate AM Trivedi appearing for ex-MLA Paras Saklecha said.

The APDMC earlier sought permission to allow taking the bio-metric details of candidates at the examination centre with assurance that the same will be verified at the time of counselling on declaration of the result.

On July 28, 2015 the court suggested a general plan wherein various conditions were laid down to ensure credibility and confidence in entire mechanism in conducting the DMAT.

The court was hearing the bunch of petitions including the one filed by ex-MLA Paras Saklecha demanding for transparent holding of DMAT.
