MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday ruled out immediate cabinet expansion plans.

Replying to questions posed by reporters, Chouhan said there was "no immediate plan for cabinet expansion." Chouhan, however, refused to elaborate on the issue.

The state cabinet has 20 cabinet rank ministers, including Chouhan, and four ministers of state. There are as many as 11 vacant berths in the cabinet.

Chouhan constituted his cabinet after November 2013 assembly elections. Since then speculations about possible cabinet expansion are doing the rounds.

Interacting with media persons in the state capital, Chouhan said the state government was going to organise a workshop on crop insurance scheme for farmers in Bhopal on May 15 and 16.

The CM said the insurance companies take premium, but when it comes to compensating the farmers at the time of crop loss caused by natural calamities, they do not do much.

He said the insurance companies authorities too would take part in the workshop to find out a solution as to how to provide relief to the farmers effectively.
