Operators of school vans get week time to mend their ways

Apart from this, they will write letters to various schools in the city within seven days, about the guidelines to be followed regarding vans and other vehicles. If the van operators fail to follow these guidelines then the district administration will cancel their permits.

An RTO team was supposed to take action against school vans running on gas cylinders illegally after the divisional commissioner Praveen Garg directed them to keep a check on such vans.

It would be mentioned here that drive against school buses flouting Supreme Court guidelines after the direction of Garg lost it shine within three days of its launch.

Giving details about the content of the letter, deputy commissioner of the revenue department Urmila Shukla said, "The letter is based on three points — Creating awareness among school management, parents and van operators, the administration will also seek details about vehicles, including vans used for dropping and picking students, from the school management and lastly, after getting the details from all the schools, a checking drive will be conducted and permits will be cancelled if any operator is found flouting the set norm."
