City police will explore connections of the alleged arms dealer Umair Khan in Bollywood, sources said.
Khan, who had sold dozens of revolvers and pistols in Bhopal, had an obsession for movie actors, especially, villains. This was revealed during interrogation.
Police found photographs of Khan alongside many actors ranging from Prakash Raj, who played the lead villain in Singham, to Gangajal's Sundar Yadav (played by Yashpal Sharma).
The police will now investigate if the links were limited to his obsession with movies or was he involved in sale of firearms to actors.
Surprisingly, during interrogation, Khan said he had met UP's strongman legislator Raja Bhaiya several times. He claimed that he even met him when he was imprisoned during the BSP regime.
The police officials however said that they were verifying his claims. Khan, who lives in Bhopal, brought the firearms from Uttar Pradesh (UP). Mostly the guns were brought from Mahoba and sold here.
People who had a fancy for firearms bought it from him. The police had recently arrested Khan and recovered two dozen illegal firearms which he had sold. Around 20 persons who had bought the revolvers and pistols were also arrested.
The police had also booked people belonging to different cross-sections viz. sportspersons to businessmen, who had apparently bought the weapons just to flaunt them. The firearms were brought for Rs 5,000-Rs 10,000 and sold for over Rs 25,000-Rs 35,000. The city police are also going to send teams to UP to ascertain Khan's links with the arms'-dealers in Uttar Pradesh.
