Alleging large scale corruption worth several crore rupees by the district’s chief medical health officer (CMHO) Sudhir Jaisani, the Rewa district panchayat has sought a probe by Economic Offence Wing (EOW) or by Lokayukta special police establishment against him.

A unanimous resolution in this regard was passed at the district panchayat meeting chaired by panchayat chairman Abhay Mishra on Monday, after the matter was raised at the meeting by Avdhesh Tiwari -- representative of Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Deotalab (Rewa) Girish Gautam.

Tiwari alleged massive corruption by Jaisani in appointment of nurses, suspension, reinstatement and posting of health department employees and purchase of equipment for health facilities.

“Tiwari also alleged that around Rs 8 crore has been transferred via Real-time gross settlement (RTGS) route from Rewa into two bank accounts of his son in Bhopal in a year. The allegations were found very serious in nature after which the panchayat unanimously decided to seek a probe by the EOW or Lokayukta against the CMHO. A proposal has been sent by the chief executive officer of the panchayat to the state government,” said Mishra.

However, Jaisani said, “All the allegations levelled against me are baseless.”
