The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Thursday directed the MP government to ensure seizure and attachment of 66 marriage gardens in Bhopal so that they don’t operate without due permissions.
The NGT bench gave the directions while hearing the case Neel Choudhary Vs. State of MP & Ors.
The next hearing in the case will be on May 13.
During the hearing, the NGT was informed that only 32 of the 105 marriage gardens in Bhopal were authorised to operate.
The MP Pollution Control Board (MPPCB) informed the NGT that it had granted consent to 32 marriage gardens to operate under the Air and Water Act.
The applications of three marriage gardens were being scrutinised, the NGT was told.
The pollution control board informed the green tribunal that in case of 38 marriage gardens, closure directions had been issued under the Air and Water Act, but many of them were still operating without permissions.
The NGT ordered that a responsible officer of the district administration to file an affidavit with regard to the status and steps taken by the administration with regard to these 38 marriage gardens that have not been given consents and 28 marriage gardens that were found closed.

{{/usCountry}}In its order the NGT stated, "In the case of these 38 and 28 marriage gardens, the district administration shall take steps for seizure and attachment so that it may be ensured that without due permission, no such activity is permitted in these marriage gardens."
The NGT has directed three government hospitals for not depositing the requisite fee and application seeking authorisation under the Biomedical Waste Rules, 1998.
The green tribunal also discussed issues such as ensuring clean laundry facilities for hospitals, indiscriminate use of DJs particularly mounted on vehicles during the marriage procession and ensuring free flow of traffic without being obstructed by the marriage procession.
