Madhya Pradesh’s special task force (STF) investigating into the massive Professional Examination Board (PEB) scam has launched hunt for six more doctors for their alleged role in the racket.
All these doctors were MBBS and MD passouts of the city’s GSVM Medical College.
The STF team headed by inspector Ram Singh raided possible hideouts of the suspected doctors but could not nab them. With the announcement of these fresh names, the figure of doctors suspected in the scam has gone up to 43.
The STF cops have decided to stay put in the city for a few more days as the doctors in question are allegedly practising here.
The STF officials have reportedly visited the JK Cancer Institute and Cardiology Institute to explore further information about the suspected doctors. They examined the staff records to find out whether or not the doctors were working there.
An official, pleading anonymity, said the STF has launched a massive search for the six doctors.
"We sought information about the suspected doctors from a Varanasi-based doctor whom we had questioned a couple of days back. It was he who divulged the names of the six doctors and said that some of them were associated with nursing homes situated in Govind Nagar and Kidwai Nagar,," he added.
Following the tip-off, STF team visited various nursing homes in the two localities but failed to trace the suspected doctors. STF head Ram Singh admitted to have received information that some suspected doctors have settled in different states and even countries to evade arrest.
