In March, Nikita Raikawar, Anurag Vaidya and Shrey Agarwal formed a team — ‘Blood Saviour Group’ — which arranges donors for people who require blood in Bhopal. Starting their campaign through the social media, the group approached hospitals and blood banks to help them in their mission.

People in need of blood, platelets or plasma units can contact the group on 8871334161.

Till date, the group successfully helped 720 people to get required blood units. “We were just friends and we had no certain idea of how we will go about this. My mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, and I faced a tough time arranging for platelets for her. Similarly, Nikita’s senior needed blood units for her mother who underwent an operation. I managed to get donors for her. That day we decided we should streamline this model and reach out to all those who require our help,” Anurag said.

The trio came up with an app, SavLife, to reach out to those in need of their help. “This app connects a person who requires blood units to all the donors available in a locality. At the same time, it sends out messages to the donors seeking their help. We never imagined that we could help so many…,” B.Com second-year student Nikita said.
