Congress leader and leader of opposition in the state assembly Satyadev Katare's close confidant Pankaj Chaturvedi has dared chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to immediately file a defamation suit against Katare.

He was reacting to public relation minister Rajendra Shukla's statement in which he had threatened to sue Katare for defamation for his remarks against the chief minister in a press conference on Thursday.

In his press conference, Katare had suggested that chief minister has ties with alleged hawala operator Purushottam Totlani and he has made investments in diamond mines of South Africa.

Totlani is on the run following a CBI raid in the office of a builder recently, who was taking bribe of Rs 50 lakh on behalf of his brother-in-law and Syndicate Bank CMD SK Jain.

Chaturvedi said merely threatening to sue Katare was not enough and if the chief minister felt aggrieved by what Katare said at the press conference, he should not just talk but go ahead and file the defamation suit.

He can do it right away but public relation minister should clarify whether the chief minister would file the defamation suit in his individual capacity or the state government would do it as Shivraj Singh Chouhan government has already done against Congress chief spokesperson KK Mishra.
