The driver of the goods train that smashed into a stationary passenger train in Madhya Pradesh Monday killing 15 people may have ignored a signal, a railway official said.

Piyush Mathur, chief public relations officer of Western Railway, told reporters: "It looks like the driver overshot the signal. The cause (of the accident) will be investigated."

Fifteen people were killed and 52 injured when the goods train smashed into the Intercity Indore-Gwalior Express at the Badarwas railway station near Guna.
