Acting hasn’t taken a backseat: Lara Dutta

Beauty queen-turned-actor Lara Dutta who gave birth to her first child, Saira, in January this year is making a point to spend as much time as she can with her little one but isn’t giving up on her career, yet.

Beauty queen-turned-actor Lara Dutta who gave birth to her first child, Saira, in January this year is making a point to spend as much time as she can with her little one but isn’t giving up on her career, yet. When asked if she is considering putting acting on the backseat, the 34-year-old actor says, “No. Certainly not. We as actors have a lot going off set in our lives than while we are onset; we just put a mask on and get on with the show.”

Last seen in Don 2, Lara finished shooting for Bejoy Nambiar’s David and has a couple of other home production ventures lined up. “I’m looking at going back on set in December,” she says, adding, “I’m actually taking it very easy because I want Saira to be a little settled. A mother has more separation anxiety than the kid. So I want to make sure she is very well secured and in the knowing that I can leave her for an extended period of time.”

The new mother has also found a new interest— watching American medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. “I’ve always been interested in medical dramas,” she says.
So how’s motherhood treating the diva? “Motherhood is challenging and thoroughly rewarding. My daughter’s giving me new lessons every day,” she says. And how much time does daddy Mahesh Bhupathi get to spend with the family? “Daddy is having a blast. He is at the US Open right now…But he spends as much time as he can. He is a great dad,” she says.
