After Hamara Bajaj, Shoojit Sircar plays the name game with Running Shaadi.com

Shoojit Sircar had to change the name of his upcoming film from Hamara Bajaj, as the automobile company made an objection. But now, the film-maker is using another company’s name in the title of his recently announced film. When asked if he’s worried about a similar situation, Shoojit says he hopes it goes off without a hitch.

“Our film is called Running Shaadi.com. It has nothing to do it with (the matrimonial website) Shaadi.com,” says Shoojit. “I don’t think it should be a problem because it’s a completely different thing.” He goes on to claim that Hamara Bajaj, the title that he had to eventually change, was never the final one. “It was always a tentative name. It was a working title and wasn’t the one we were going to use anyway,” he says.

Shoojit’s latest film, which he is producing under his own banner, has newcomers in the lead roles. “I have signed Amit Sadh and Taapsee Pannu for the lead roles. My friend Ronnie Lahiri and I are producing the film in association with Vikram Malhotra,” he says. It will also be the directorial debut of cinematographer Amit Roy, who has shot films such as Sarkar (2005) with Ram Gopal Varma and Dum Maaro Dum (2011) with Rohan Sippy. “He is a friend of mine, and I am sure he will do a great job as a director,” he says.

Giving a sneak peek into the film’s plot, Shoojit says, “It’s a light-hearted slice-of-life film, a simple love story. We’ve just started shooting.” The film will be set in Punjab.
