The posters of Sanjay Sharma’s Dunno Y… Na Jaane Kyun has Kapil Sharma in an intimate pose with another guy to portray homosexuality. The other guy is Yuvraj Parashar, a young actor from Agra.
What made him want to debut in such a bold film? “I was actually called to audition for another character, but ended up bagging that of Ashley. It’s a good banner with an interesting script so I decided to take the plunge. I didn’t want to be a hero who wears sunglasses and rides a bike. I wanted a role that would make people come back to see me, again and again,” he says.
He admits that initially he was afraid of how the audience would react, but after the screening at the Kashish Film Festival, he is more confident. “It was a 200-seater theater but there were 500 people waiting outside raving about the film and our performances,” recalls Yuvraj.
He plays a married man with a three-year-old daughter who has an affair with another man. There’s a 90-second kiss and initially Sharma and Yuvraj had planned on cheat shooting it, but the director insisted it didn’t look convincing, so they decided on a real smooch.

It was the first time I was kissing a guy and I was really awkward, but Sanjay has filmed it well and both he and Kapil put me at ease,” says the actor, adding with a laugh, “Of course, after the shot, both Kapil and I were so embarrassed, we didn’t talk to each other for like four hours, then looked at each other and burst out laughing.”

His screen mama, Zeenat Aman, thinks he’s a younger version of Brad Pitt and even calls him Brad. But friends and family are not so understanding. “My friends think I’ve lost my mind,” he admits. “But once they see the film, I think they will understand why it meant so much to me.”
