Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon started their Bollywood careers together with Heropanti (2014). Now, the two have teamed up once again for an ad film that has been directed by Aanand L Rai. Besides Tiger and Kriti, there are a number of other actors, who have worked together on a project before, and are now set to share screen space again.

Anushka Sharma started her career opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, and will now be seen together in Imtiaz Ali’s next.

History repeats

Anushka Sharma, who made her acting debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), will be seen with the star once again in film-maker Imtiaz Ali’s next. Ranbir Kapoor started his career as an assistant director on his father Rishi Kapoor’s directorial Aa Ab Laut Chalen (1999). The movie starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Now, Ranbir will be seen romancing her in director Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

“How many heroes of my generation are going to get the opportunity to work with Aishwarya?” asks Ranbir. “I was about 16 (when he became an AD), and fresh out of school. But I was not intimidated by Aishwarya. Being the director-producer’s son, everybody else treated me like a kid. But she didn’t do that, and I really admired that quality.” Aishwarya, on the other hand, feels they “got along like a house on fire”.

Being on one’s toes

Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt also started their acting careers together with Student of the Year in 2012. Now, the two will share screen space in Badrinath Ki Dulhania. “Everyone knows Alia is a good actor. We have always shared a great relationship. We will make sure that our work is amazing, and we live up to everyone’s expectations,” says Varun. Alia adds, “With Varun, I can talk, walk, eat and sleep movies, and not get bored. He always comes up with ways to make everything better. He tries to push himself do more, which makes me push myself more.”

Similarly, Sushant Singh Rajput will team up with his first heroine, Parineeti Chopra (from Shuddh Desi Romance; 2013) again in Takadum. “I think Sushant and I have the greatest on-screen chemistry because he is such a strong actor. He keeps me on my toes and vice versa. There’s a lot of give and take. We have the greatest working relationship,” says Parineeti.

Greater camaraderie

Experts feel that when past hit pairs team up again, it is an added advantage for the film. “There’s always a greater camaraderie if you have worked together in the past. Also, audiences remember such pairs fondly, and that has a direct effect on the film’s box-office collections,” says exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s first heroine was Parineeti Chopra in Shuddh Desi Romance, and will soon start shooting for Homi Adajania’s Takadum.

Farhan Akhtar puts things in perspective. “It is amazing [to work in the same set-up again] because things are familiar. It is like you have moved back into a house that you lived in for three years. If you go back to the same place after eight years, you kind of know where everything is — from the switches to the fans,” he says.
