Alia Bhatt suffers burns during award event

As Alia made her entry on stage, a cracker burst midway and fell on Alia. The star shielded her face with her left arm and got burns on her elbow.

Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt reportedly suffered minor burns during an award function on Sunday.

Firecrackers were part of Alia Bhatt’s performance at the Big Star Entertainment Awards. As Alia made her entry on stage, a cracker burst midway and fell on Alia. The star shielded her face with her left arm and got burns on her elbow. Alia also suffered bruises on her arm. She was immediately given medical aid and was rushed home in her car.

She tweeted on Tuesday, “Thank you guysss so much for all your concern, love and wishes!!! Things like this are a gentle reminder that we can’t overlook safety.”

The Highway actress also said that accidents, like the one she suffered, “are preventable”.

“It isn’t possible to go through life accident-free. But, most accidents - like this one - are preventable... FYI my face is fine,” she wrote.

Shah Rukh Khan will star opposite Alia Bhatt, who is nearly half his age, in Gauri Shinde's next film.

Alia Bhatt, who was last seen in Shaandaar opposite Shahid Kapoor, is currently working on Kapoor and Sons and Udta Punjab. She will soon start shooting for Gauri Shinde’s next, opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
