Shah Rukh Khan’s new production Always Kabhi Kabhi (AKK) gets ready to open this Friday. And while the superstar seems content with director Roshan Abbas and his young team’s effort for the high school film, the debutants are clearly in awe of Khan.
“Gratitude is my attitude right now. It’s a wonderful opportunity for me and everyone else in AKK,” says Satyajeet Dubey, who rattles off a dialogue from SRK’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge as keenly as he discuses the star’s Delhi days with him.
For Zoa Morani too, "it’s a great opportunity." “He has shown huge faith in us and we really hope to give something back to him as actors,” she says. Ask SRK about it and he replies, “Always Kabhi Kabhi is a small film. I am not expecting it to take a great opening and become the next big blockbuster. But as a producer, I want to dabble in different kinds of cinema now.”
One of the male leads, Ali Fazal, adds, "The film has a lot of honesty in it, so I think the pressure is not an issue. We hope that Shah Rukh sir is happy with whatever we have done in the film." Ask SRK, who has played a college boy in several films, if he too wished for a role and he laughs: "I don’t have the age or the body to do such a film at this point. Maybe if I get some plastic surgery..."
Explaining the point of the film, SRK elaborates, “AKK is about elders don’t understand these kids and their point of view. Personally, I think we should at least listen to our youth, we might not like their ideas, but they can always be guided.” Unlike other producers, SRK claims he didn’t visit the sets. “AKK is a film about trust and faith in youngsters. So I had to let them do their own thing,” smiles SRK.
